"I am always ready to give my thoughts," Steve says.

______

Q:
Do you think Tire could ever shut out half its games?

SS: Dream on. It won't happen unless the team was in division 4 and even then I am not sure.

______

Q:
Can we call you the Six Thousand Dollar Man and make sound effects when you run, or did insurance pick up most of that bill?

SS: You can call me whatever you want: although freckle-face at fat-ass have been two of the more unoriginal names. You can make those noises when I return on September 11, 2011.

Insurance has picked up a fair amount of some of the more overpriced things you could imagine. I would guess that we have so far paid about $7,000 out-of-pocket. I don’t recommend having a dumb goalie sliding into your leg … it isn’t cheap.

______

Q: In the last 2 years, Spring session has been Tire's nemesis with both low scoring and hardly any wins (being somehow placed in division 2). My crazy question is what is your prediction of Tire's chances of having a winning session this year in division 3?

SS: Too much time is spent by some people worrying about the number of the division Tire is playing in. You should be looking at the teams Tire is playing against.  Take a look at last session in 2b - there were two teams that Tire would be hard-pressed to get a result against on any Sunday. That is going to happen every now and then, however, every other team was a team that Tire could have easily beaten. Tire finished at .500 and if not for giving up a few late goals, could have easily made the playoffs.

As for this session, I would say it is 50-50 for a .500 or better record, because I think Tire could beat or lose to any of the teams in the division.

______

Q: Who returns to the pitch first - Steve Lassiter or Steve Zakuani?

SS: If Shelby is gone anytime over Spring or Fall session, I will seriously contemplate playing keeper, because then I can have control over who is sliding at me or how I respond to it. As far as playing in the field goes, I have no desire to play in the field and get wiped out again by someone on a reckless challenge. Even if I wanted to, I am not sure I could get on the field because my uniform was given away to someone else :)
